We recently came across a thought provoking quote. It basically said this…..
“Culture happens by intentional design or by default.”
As a leader, which way would you rather have it? The former is the obvious choice. The latter option is a rudderless existence.
So you say, “Well, how do we create a culture?” Here are three thoughts……
One – It starts at the top. Your leadership, work ethic, and consistent commitment will cascade down to the others around you. On the flip side, if you are inconsistent or lackadaisical, others will follow suit.
Two – Specifically define what success looks like. What is the end destination that would serve as a crowning achievement? You would be surprised how many organizations we consult that have no road map to victory.
Third – Give your team all the resources and support they need to win the race. That includes investing in them as a person and providing them with positive feedback on a regular basis. Even if you have set reminders in your schedule to check in with your people, do it. People that feel valued and know that their leaders are behind them perform far better than those that lack affirmation.
Set the course. Show them the way. Pump the team up along the journey. Victory is within your reach. Intentional culture creation over default.
