In my younger years, our family subscribed to Reader’s Digest, a monthly magazine of short, condensed stories along with sections of jokes, and one for famous quotes. We had copies of the Digest lying around everywhere in our house. The various segments were easy to read and most of the stories were timeless. The Digest turned 100 in 2022, so they have figured out the magic formula for delivering a meaningful magazine.

The famous quotes section of the Digest was called “Quotable Quotes.” Those that know me know I love a good quote. Every few years we use our time on the Monday Huddle Up to share some of our favorites. Today’s is just that, a new list of quotes from things we have recently come across. Here are a few we hope you find valuable, along with their contributor…..

“What other people think about me is none of my business.” (Eleanor Roosevelt)

“Just because something is easy to measure doesn’t mean it’s accurate, or that it matters.” (Seth Godin)

“The greatest irony is that the central characteristic of the universe (change) is the thing with which we are the most uncomfortable.” (Buddha)

“To have a positive influence on the lives of others, we need to take the time to learn about them.” (Tommy Spaulding)

“The most important ability is AVAILability.” (Every coach and broadcaster in the universe)

“Yes and no are perfectly acceptable answers, maybe sucks.” (My wife Sharon)

And here are a few from Reader’s Digest’s top 100 quotes of all time list…..

“Try to be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud.” (Maya Angelou)

“The rough side of the mountain is the easiest to climb, the smooth side doesn’t have anything for you to hang on to.” (Aretha Franklin)

“It’s a whole lot more satisfying to reach for the stars, even if you end up landing only on the moon.” (Kermit the Frog)

“Faith is taking the first step. Even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” (Martin Luther King, Jr.)

We hope you enjoyed our new list of quotes. Be on the lookout for our Summer reading list soon.

Go out and have a “quotable” week, in a good way.
