This past Sunday, our church welcomed back one of our former pastors in residence, Sean Myers. Sean was a big part of our church ten years ago and now runs a very prosperous church here in the Phoenix area. He usually comes back to us as a guest pastor once a year, and we always look forward to his return. He not only has a tremendous story about his life, Sean has something special. He is one of the more incredible speakers that you will ever have the fortune to experience. He has a gift.
When thinking about this week’s Huddle Up and recalling Sean’s message, I thought about all the people we know that have an extraordinary talent, a gift if you will. There are a lot of them that we’ve been fortunate enough to meet and to experience their greatness. Some are super athletes, some have a high acumen for business, a few are great motivational speakers, there are incredible non-profit leaders, super mentors, you name it. We have been blessed to have some of these people as a big part of our lives. Which leads us to today’s topic…..
What is your gift?
You may humbly say, “I don’t have a talent like you are talking about.” I disagree.
Everyone has something special to bring to the table. I guarantee it. Now, it may be something you have yet to explore. The talent I’m talking about could be buried deep inside of you and it just needs a nudge to come alive. It also may be something that you know about, however are not putting it go practice.
Our goal should be to identify our true gift and use it for the greater good. If you are a great cook, how about helping a homeless shelter with their meals? A great business leader? You could donate your time to a struggling non-profit to point them in the right direction. How about superb educators? Give your time to an underserved school and mentor the young teachers there.
Whatever your gift is, find it, use it, and help others prosper through it. Just like Sean Myers and our lead Pastor (Frank) do for their followers every day.
